January 2014 – Joe Bonner Planning helped secure a grant of planning permission for a dwelling at Kincasslagh, Co. Donegal. Following an initial refusal of permission for 3 reasons that addressed matters such as potential impact on a nearby SAC, suburban nature of design, impact on rural landscape and inadequate access, Joe was asked to review the initial decision and recommended a number of key changes that resulted in the grant of permission issuing on the second application. Joe worked with TecSoil Site Assessments Ltd to secure permission. (Planning Reg. Ref. 13/51314).

January 2014 – Following a grant of permission for the amalgamation of two houses into one in Lucan, South County Dublin, where the applicants were charged a development contribution of €12,746.19, Joe was asked to appeal the decision. Following a review of the planning history of the site he advised the applicants to make a new application rather than appeal the contributions charged. Joe prepared the public notices and application letter setting out the complex planning history of the site, while Foley Architecture prepared the plans and other documents. The development contributions charged on the grant of permission was €935.66, which represented a saving of €11,810.53 or 92.66% to the client. (Planning Reg. Ref. SD13B/0241).

December 2013 - Joe wrote a review of the results of a survey carried out by him in September 2013 on behalf of the Private Practice Branch of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI). December 2013 – 3 no First Party Appeals were granted by An Bord Pleanala on appeal following decisions by South Dublin County Council to refuse permission for the retention of new boundary walls to the rear of three private dwellings at Palmerstown, Dublin 20. Joe Bonner Planning prepared separate appeals for each of the three householders. The decisions have set a precedent for a number of other houses in the area, which are facing the same difficulties. November 2013 – Permission granted by An Bord Pleanala following a refusal from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for an extension to a large dwelling in Blackrock, Co Dublin. Joe Bonner Planning prepared the first party appeal, while the original application was also prepared by Joe in conjunction with Richard Bannon Architects. November 2013 –Joe Bonner Planning resolved a number of Enforcement issues for a private householder in rural Co Kerry, in relation to non-compliance with conditions of planning permission.
